Frequently Asked Questions

“Minecraft is an adventure video game that’s attracted immense worldwide popularity since its release in 2011. Created by Markus Persson, Swedish Video game developer, and Mojang, it lets players mine the blocks and then craft them the way they like. In a 3D world, every player demonstrates great creativity as they explore, gather resources, craft the cubes and then combat. Multiple game modes and multi-player versions are available. As of mid-2018, it boasts of more than 91 million active monthly players. It is widely regarded as one of the most popular video games ever, having sold over 177 million copies worldwide across platforms and devices.” ~ Mojang

No, none of our services require port forwarding. The Minecraft server is hosted on our own computers in a data center, so we handle all of the networking aspects for you.
If you require an extra port to use for plugins such as Votifier or Dynmap, please contact us.
Creating a backup protects you from losing your game progress. There are many possible causes and not all of them are influenced by your actions. This is why we recommend regularly creating backups. The creation of a backup is quite simple. You can find a corresponding ‘backup’ menu item in the game server panel. In addition, there are also mods or plugins that can create backups automatically.
Everyone who starts Minecraft for the first time will be tossed into an empty world to start from scratch. However, many players like to immediately start in a prefabricated world (e.g. worlds created by popular streamers, or community members). You can upload these specific worlds to your server and join.
“A ‘whitelist’ allows you to choose who can and can’t enter your server. This filtering prevents unauthorized people from connecting to your server – which acts as a useful tool to combat bullying/’trolling’ and online world damage referred to as ‘griefing’.
Absolutely! Upgrade/downgrade your server at any time and pay only the difference at a prorated amount. Upgrading or downgrading can be done by visiting the billing panel or contacting us.
Due to changes in Minecraft since 1.14, including extensive changes to world generation, many Minecraft servers use more resources than before. We recommend a 4GB RAM minimum for Minecraft 1.14+ and 6GB RAM minimum for Minecraft 1.18+ to deliver the best possible performance.
You can transfer your service to Equinox Hosting by using the SFTP or by creating a backup. Just download a backup of your previous service and upload it to your new service at Equinox Hosting – via FileZilla.
Currently – our system requires manual verification by our team, in which case it should not take more than 24 hours; as long as you can provide all of the requested information in time.
